Hi, I'm Daniel! I am a Capetonian mountain enthusiast who has done hundreds of hikes on Table Mountain since 2003. I am a certified mountain and tourist guide and look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion for this mountain with you!
I pride myself in offering hikes on lesser used, adventurous trails on Table Mountain. Being one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, certain trails are very popular with tourists. My belief however is that nature is best enjoyed without the hustle and bustle of a busy tourist destination. While still on established and safe trails, my hikes offer more solitude, more nature and more adventure than the standard routes.
When taking part in one of my private hiking groups, I guarantee beautiful views, an adventurous challenge, engaging conversation and local knowledge of the area, culture and South Africa in general.

This challenging and spectacular ascent on the front side of Table Mountain is a bucket list hike for those adventurous at heart. Incredible views over the city, Lion’s Head, Robben Island as well as some rock scrambling make this an unforgettable experience. A good head for heights is required. Descent via cableway.
Duration: 4 hours
Technical difficulty: Moderate
Exposure to heights: Medium

This route meanders along the 12 Apostles and ascends above the Atlantic Ocean in the West somewhat away from the city. A more remote and tranquil feel awaits us and this route is less technical than India Venster. Lush vegetation and gargling streams make this hike a nature lover's dream. Descent via cableway.
Duration: 5 hours
Technical difficulty: Easy to moderate
Exposure to heights: Low to medium

For the avid hiker, this route offers it all. Starting in the stunning botanical gardens and climb the forested Skeleton Gorge in the East with views over the university and Indian Ocean to Table Mountain's summit. Then we traverse along the tabletop's edge above the city until the upper cable station where 360-degree views await us. Descent via cableway.
Duration: 6 hours
Technical difficulty: Easy to moderate
Exposure to heights: Low to medium

Some prior hiking experience is advised for the routes on offer and children need to be at least 10 years old. You however don't need to be a natural athlete. In many cases, other sports like cycling, indoor climbing or running will give you the necessary fitness. Prior to the hike I will ask some questions that enable me to judge your fitness and comfort at mild height exposure. If I have any concerns over your suitability I will be upfront about this, as your safety and enjoyment are my highest priorities.
Your safety is my single highest priority. I am a fully trained and qualified mountain hiking guide with decades of experience. I also carry a first aid kit, a rope as well as extra water to ensure most (albeit very unlikely) emergency situations are catered for.
Much like many popular tourist locations in the world, Table Mountain has on occasion seen hikers mugged for their valuables. These are however extremely rare on the routes that I offer and hiking in a group significant reduces this risk even further.
Mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. I use a combination of weather apps and 25+ years of hiking experience to make reasonably accurate judgement calls.
If heavy rain is predicted or if there are very low clouds, the hike will be cancelled. If otherwise clear but very windy, I will advise on the impact thereof on the morning of the hike, if not the evening before.
Fees paid are fully refundable up to 24 hours before the start of the hike, regardless of the cancellation reason.
If cancelled due to poor weather conditions, a full refund will be given even if we only cancel on the morning of the hike,.
